Clinical placement is a mandatory part of the curriculum. Students can be placed anywhere within Ontario.

- An up-to-date immunization record including tetanus and diphtheria, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B (incl. Hep B titre within the last 24 months) and TB skin test.

- Standard First Aid (online courses are NOT acceptable)
- CPR Level C/HCP with AED awareness - which includes training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the basic support level, including one-rescuer and two-rescuer CPR for adults, children, and infants; the relief of foreign body airway obstructions for adults, children, and infants; the use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED- awareness); and the use of ambu-bags. (Online courses are NOT acceptable)

WINDSOR RESIDENTS:
For city of Windsor residents, please use the Local Police Clearance Letter plus the form and checklist identification list below.

Employers who provide our field placement settings require a clear POLICE RECORD CHECK for criminal offences with vulnerable sector screening before accepting a student into the field placement setting. The record check MUST be obtained by the student at the student's expense. If you are unable to obtain this police clearance by mid-September, you jeopardize the opportunity to complete either of your field placements.
Placements may be on day, afternoon, or weekend shifts anywhere within Windsor-Essex. Students are required to provide their own transportation to the field placement site. The College is not able to guarantee placements on a bus route.

- Tuberculosis Screening - 1 step if you can produce prior documentation of having 2 step screening done; otherwise 2 step is required

- N95 Mask Fit Testing (completed every two years)
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (annual) AND Photo ID required with birthdate (e.g. Driver's License)
- Annual Police Clearance Requirements

Mandatory Medical Requirements - Section A
- Entering Students Preplacement Form
- This medical form can be taken to your personal health care provider to complete. This medical clearance may take up to 2 months to complete so please make an appointment to start the process as soon as possible. When the medical form is completed you must make an appointment with the St. Clair College Health Centre (519-972-2380) to have the medical form reviewed and cleared to receive your "Passport to Health". The Registrar’s office will only accept your "Passport to Health" from the St. Clair College Health Centre as evidence that you have met the mandatory medical requirements.
- Preplacement Guidelines
Mandatory Non-Medical Requirements - Section B (All ORIGINAL documents must be provided for clearance)
- Current CPR BLS with AED (annual renewal is required regardless of the expiry date on the card)
- Please note the CPR must be for Health Care Providers (HCP) and must include Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training or it will not meet the requirements for clinical. Recertification must be annually completed despite what the CPR card may have as an recertification date.

- N95 Mask Fit Testing (completed every two years)
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (annual) AND Photo ID required with birthdate (e.g. Driver's License)
- The Vulnerable Sector Police Check must be done within 6 months of starting clinical placement. To avoid having to have the police check repeated for the winter semester, it is suggested that students apply for the clearance the first week in August but no later than that. The results can take up to 6 weeks to arrive so don't wait to apply for it.

- Applicants accepted to the program will receive appropriate medical forms and instructions for completion/submission. Students in the program are expected to keep immunizations up-to-date as required by our clinical partners i.e. TB testing and associated documentation will be required yearly.
