Program Overview
The Nursing degree program is designed to prepare students to provide nursing care in a variety of settings. Graduates will work within the scope of nursing practice and in accordance with the regulations of the College of Nurses of Ontario. Nursing students will be able to care for individual clients or groups, including family members and significant others. Students will make clinical decisions and exercise judgement in giving care to clients. Graduates will be eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination - Registered Nurse (NCLEX - RN) to achieve the professional status of Registered Nurse in Canada.
This Transfer Credit Pathway Program is designed to provide practicing Registered Practical Nurses with an opportunity to enter the Collaborative BScN program in the second year and complete the program in 3 years.
Admission Requirements
- A Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) Certificate of Competence from the CNO in good standing
- A minimum of 2000 hours worked as an RPN
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 achieved during the undergraduate Practical Nursing Program
- A minimum of a 'C' grade in all theory courses in a Practical Nursing Program and a 'Satisfactory' grade in all clinical courses.
*Please note that the upgrading of courses to improve GPA cannot be considered.

- Letter from Employer (Must indicate completion of 2000+ hours of work as a Registered Practical Nurse)

- Record of Employment
- Transcripts (only if completed Practical Nursing at institution other than St. Clair College)
Important Information
Please note: This program is deemed "OVERSUBSCRIBED" as a result of the limited number of seats available.
Applicants who have completed both their Practical Nursing Diploma and required Employment hours will be ranked utilizing their program GPA from their Practical Nursing Diploma. We will not include those courses related to the Pre-Health Sciences program that were completed to gain admission into a Practical Nursing program. An official letter from your previous academic institution stating your program GPA may be requested.

Placement Requirements
This is to make you aware that, although a COVID-19 vaccination is not required to attend St. Clair College, all of our clinical placement sites are requiring students to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to be eligible to attend. Students who are not fully vaccinated cannot be provided with a clinical placement for their program and therefore will not be able to complete their programs. Please be advised that COVID-19 booster shots and/or other requirements may become mandatory for clinical placement, however, they are not currently required.

Field/Clinical Placements
- Student clinical placements are assigned. Student personal requests for placement cannot be accommodated
- Windsor students may be placed anywhere in Windsor and Essex county
- Chatham students may be placed anywhere in Chatham and Kent county
- Clinical placement schedules may include shifts on days, afternoons, weekends and holidays throughout the program based on clinical need and agency availability
- Students are responsible for their own travel and costs to clinical placements
- Students are responsible for the cost of scrub uniforms/footwear and other incidentals as required

- Current CPR BLS with AED (annual renewal is required regardless of the expiry date on the card)
- Standard First Aid
- N95 Mask Fit Testing (completed every two years)
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (annual) AND Photo ID required with birthdate (e.g. Driver's License)
- Annual Police Clearance Requirements
Returning Year 2

- Tuberculosis Screening - 1 step if you can produce prior documentation of having 2 step screening done; otherwise 2 step is required
