What is Dual Credit? | St. Clair College

What is Dual Credit?

Dual Credit programs are programs approved by the Ministry of Education that allow students, while in secondary school, to take college or apprenticeship courses that count toward both their Ontario Secondary School Diploma(OSSD) and a postsecondary certificate, diploma or degree or a certificate of Apprenticeship.

Who is Eligible to Attend?

Dual credit programs are intended to assist secondary school students in completing their OSSD and making a successful transition to college and/or apprenticeship programs. The primary focus is on students who face significant challenges in completing the requirement for graduation but have the potential to succeed.

How Do I Sign Up?

Students in SHSM and OYAP programs are automatically eligible to take dual credit programs. All other students are guided by Student Success teams and Guidance Counsellors at their home school. Contact your school’s guidance office or cooperative education teacher for more information and application for this program.

What Does it Cost?

Nothing! Transportation, tuition, books and all associated costs are covered.

When is Dual Credit Offered?

There are typically three times during the year that a student may enroll into a dual credit. We offer dual credit programs at both our Chatham and Main Windsor Campus during the fall and winter semesters. St. Clair College also will hold summer dual credit(s) if there are seats available to do so.
