Trophies and banners

The Saints capped another winning year with the 54th Annual Athletic Awards Banquet at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts campus in downtown Windsor on Thursday, April 13th. Plenty of hardware was distributed as the Saints earned eight championships which included eleven medals at the provincial or national level.

The St. Clair Golf program started things by travelling to Niagara Falls in early October where the Women’s team won a Silver Medal.

Soon after Women’s Softball hosted the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association National Championship for the second time but for the first time at the campus SportsPark. It led to St. Clair’s second CCSA national crown and was part of the first undefeated season for a women’s varsity team at St. Clair which concluded with an OCAA Provincial Gold Medal in London later in October that totaled to a perfect 34-0 record.

The Men’s Baseball team also played host to a major championship at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh where the Saints accomplished the rare losers bracket comeback and captured their 7th provincial Gold Medal in just nine OCAA seasons.

Cross Country continued their medal streak in late October as the Men’s team raced to a provincial title in Thunder Bay while the Women’s team finished with a very gratifying silver medal. Jacob Fitzpatrick (Silver) and Tyler Jones (Bronze) were both podium finishers as the Saints put their four scoring runners in the top ten to prove they were the class of the field. That depth led to a Bronze Medal two weeks later in Calgary at the CCAA National Championships as Jones (4th Place) and Fitzpatrick (7th Place) each ran to All-Canadian status.

Saints Football hosted their second consecutive OFC Championship game and prevailed for the provincial crown which qualified them for the Canadian Junior Football League national semi-final at Acumen Stadium.

It was a historic season for the Men’s Basketball team who won their first outright OCAA Championship Gold Medal in early March on their homecourt where the capacity crowd was treated to a performance for the ages. Shakael Pryce was named the St. Clair’s fourth Men’s Basketball All-Canadian recipient and helped the Saints to a fourth-place finish at the CCAA National Championship in Calgary.

In March the Men’s Cricket team contributed to the winning culture securing an Ontario Collegiate Recreation REC-CUP Gold Medal for St. Clair which was staged in King City.

Here are the results for this year’s awards:
