Lawrence Tech University, a highly-ranked university located outside of Detroit, has agreed to accept St. Clair College graduates with advanced business diplomas directly into two Master's degree programs.
An articulation agreement was signed recently between the two institutions, allowing St. Clair graduates with three-year Business Administration diplomas in Marketing, Accounting, Finance or Human Resources direct entry into the Master of Business Administration or Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) programs.
"A number of St. Clair Architectural Technology students have taken advantage of our long-standing articulation agreement with Lawrence Tech, to benefit from advanced standing when seeking admission to its Master of Architecture degree program," St. Clair President Patti France said. "Now, our Business graduates will be able to create the blueprints of the 21st century's economy by enjoying similar admission into Lawrence Tech's MBA and I.T. Master's programs."
LTU President Virinder Moudgil said the agreement “strengthens our partnership with St. Clair College to produce the business and IT leaders of tomorrow, and is a testament to the continuing international focus of LTU, situated at the busiest trade crossing between the United States and Canada, the Detroit-Windsor region.”
Bahman Mirshab, dean of LTU’s College of Business and IT, praised the work of St. Clair’s business faculty in crafting the agreement and said it would benefit both institutions and the communities they serve.
Jim Marsh, dean of the Zekelman School of Business and Information Technology, said the agreement was possible based on the strength of St. Clair's advanced diplomas. Unlike other articulation agreements, St. Clair graduates will not be required to obtain an undergraduate degree before entering the Lawrence Tech Master's programs, Marsh said.
Marsh described the articulation agreement as "groundbreaking."
St. Clair students will also get a 30 per cent discount on tuition and fees and the application fee will also be waived.
"The fact that Lawrence Tech is also offering our students significant discounts of their tuition and fees will, I believe, lead many St. Clair grads to take advantage of this unique cross-border partnership," President France added.
The Lawrence Tech MBA and MSIT are both online programs that can be completed in two years or less. "So you can do these from your own home," Marsh said.
