(Windsor, Ontario) – The St. Clair college women’s volleyball team had a massive win on Saturday afternoon defeating the Humber Hawks 3-0. The Humber Hawks had an amazing 155 game winning streak going into the match. The streak has lasted since 2011 and includes all OCAA regular season and playoff games since then.

Set scores for the Saints were 25-22, 25-21, and 25-23. St. Clair was actually down in both sets two and three but came back to win both.

Te-Anna Stephenson (Whitby; Sinclair Secondary) had a huge match for the Saints with 17 kills on 45 attempts. She also had 1 stuff block and 2 service aces along with 10 digs. Rookie Amelia Oliverio (Windsor; St. Joseph’s) had a solid match as well with 7 kills on 17 attempts and chipped in defensively with 7 digs. St. Clair had big contributions from two setters throughout the match with Kim Quintanilla (Windsor, St. Joseph’s) having 19 assists and Rileigh Davis (Georgetown; Georgetown District) with 14 assists.

Head coach Jimmy El-Turk was extremely pleased with his teams game. “Our team stuck to the process throughout the match. Humber made some runs and had the lead late in the second and third sets but we were not consumed with the outcome. Our serving game gave us some trouble today but we played our toughest when we needed to and we were able to close out some tight sets. This was a great learning moment for our young team and hopefully this match can act as a foundation for the rest of our semester.”

With the win the Saints improved to 3-1 on the season while Humber fell to 3-1. The St. Clair women are currently ranked 4th in the OCAA while Humber are ranked 1st in the OCAA and 5th in Canada.
