St. Clair College Softball Clinch Pennant with 5-1 Weekend

(Windsor, Ontario) - The St. Clair College Women’s Softball team racked up 5 wins this past weekend with a doubleheader sweep of Conestoga College (Kitchener) Friday night and Saturday at Mohawk College (Hamilton) before a split at Mic Mac Park Sunday against Fanshawe College (London). Having already clinched the OCAA Regular Season pennant on Saturday, St. Clair’s final games on Sunday were merely a formality. With a 20-4 record St. Clair holds the #1 seed in the OCAA Provincial Championship Tournament starting Friday at Kitchener’s Budd Park which is being hosted by Conestoga College.

The Saints won by scores of 6-2 and 9-2 at Budd Park in Kitchener Friday night with a persistent cold drizzle all evening. Olivia Elliott (Oakville, ON) and Sara Stiller (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) each earned victories on the mound for St. Clair. Jordan Taylor (Lasalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) and Megan Lumley (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) each had 4 hits in the two games.

On Saturday afternoon St. Clair defeated Mohawk College at Mohawk Sports Park in Hamilton by scores of 12-4 and 17-7. Michaela Rilett (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) and Lumley had 6 hits apiece over the two games to pace the Saints offensively with Elliott and Stiller each getting another win.

Sunday afternoon the Saints opened with a 7-2 win over Fanshawe College at Mic Mac Park but wilted in the final game losing 9-4. Elliott picked up another win for St. Clair in pitching 2 innings of relief in the opener but took the loss in the second game in short work after the Saints spread out 5 pitchers in the meaningless contest. Jordyn Clark (Leamington, ON) had 7 hits in the two games for St. Clair but Rya Cowan (Lasalle, ON/Sandwich) launched her 2nd home run of the season.
