English as a Second Language (ESL) | St. Clair College

Program Description:

The English as a Second Language (ESL) Program has been designated for students with little, to no knowledge of the English language. The ESL program offers an introduction to the English language and aims to improve the student’s understanding, proficiency, and confidence. ESL students can customize their desired English language pathway with highly qualified English instructors.

To be placed in the appropriate ESL level, applicants can apply using a Duolingo or IELTS English test that was conducted within the last 6 months of the application date. Based on the results, the applicant will be placed in the foundation or intermediate level.

At the completion of each semester, the student will receive an assessment to determine advancement to the next ESL level, into the EAP program, or into a Diploma/Certificate program at St. Clair College.
