The purpose of this course is to provide the student with a clear understanding of the bodies involved in the organization and regulation of amateur sport at the municipal, provincial, national and international levels. The operations, events, policies, and goals of these organizations are introduced. Emphasis is placed on examining the organization, programs and funding of the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion, International Olympic Committee and the Ministry of State (Amateur Sport). Public policy has changed over the years to reduce the role of government in all aspects of the lives of Canadians. What will become of amateur sports organizations? International and corporate models will be examined.
