The course will build on the knowledge related to feedwater and internal boiler water treatment methods, equipment, monitoring, sampling and testing. Students will study different treatment methods for industrial and municipal wastewater, cooling water, and potable water as well as relevant legislation, monitoring and testing techniques. Environmental emission monitoring systems, management programs, data interpretation, specific environmental controls and equipment, troubleshooting, sampling points and protocols for the main control parameters will be discussed. Plant maintenance and administration concepts such as project management methods, internal and external communication structures, components of preventive maintenance, personnel training, well-written procedures, and the importance of the quality of record keeping will be studied.
