The student will learn calculations for compounding narcotic and other critical care IV solutions. The aspects of medication safety will be explored using scenarios in the hospital pharmacy. Sterile preparations requiring special handling will be reviewed. Quality assurance procedures for preparing critical care medications will be emphasized to provide optimal patient safety. Specialized services of several hospitals will be reviewed to prepare students for their clinical rotations.
