This course provides covers all procedural aspects of small claims court proceedings in Ontario. The course examines issues of jurisdiction, the rules and procedural requirements of commencing and defending an action, including the development of pleadings, motions, affidavits and other court documents. Practical case exercises ensure students develop skills to assess strengths and weaknesses of an action as well as identifying settlement opportunities. The course introduces students to technical advocacy skills including examination of witnesses and prepares students for enforcement processes following judgment.
