This course provides students with the requisite skills to create legal documents and other forms of digital communications utilized by paralegals. Students develop skills in formatting and editing legal documents, producing spreadsheets, and developing legal memoranda. Practical exercises will be utilized to develop student knowledge in producing court documents that meet the requirements of the rules of the court or tribunal, and the substantive requirements for pleadings. Students will find and utilize online resources, including forms contained on government websites, and ensure that the generated documents are in line with current legal procedures. Students will become familiar with and utilize legal accounting software, time-management and tickler system software programs, scheduling and email messaging software programs.
