The ability to construct well-reasoned cases and support conclusions is an essential skills for paralegals. This course develops student ability to critically evaluate information. Emphasis is placed on developing skills in reasoning, analysis and use of sound arguments. Students establish essential skills in critical thinking through exercises which require examination of various viewpoints of an issue, identification of flawed thinking, and the processing of reaching sound conclusions. Interaction in online case study forums is an important component of the learning process for the course. Practical techniques to analyze and solve problems, to develop sound arguments, and to communicate persuasively are examined and practiced.
