The development of American Method acting in the 1930's and its links to Stanislavski will be further explored. Pioneers and practitioners of method acting will be discussed and advanced acting techniques, scene study and analysis applied to appropriate classic American texts. An introduction and basic understanding of Michael Chekhov's work and of his contribution to the modern actor will be investigated through studio work, character study/performance and analysis. The final unit will explore performance in non-realistic forms of theatre. Visiting guest artists will conduct Master Classes to provide further enrichment. Weekly private acting tutorials will offer instruction and on-going support to the individual student.
