This course provides a general overview of common mental health disorders, the management, theories of mental illness, and the nature of biopsychosocial practice. Current issues in mental health, along with relevant social, cultural, and developmental perspectives will be explored. To facilitate the integration of theory with practice, special consideration will be given to the role of the OTA and PTA in the mental health setting. This course will also address the concept of self-care and mental wellbeing as a practitioner in the rehabilitation industry.
