This course examines the sequences of typical growth and development of infants and toddlers (birth to 30 months of age). It explores best practices that promote optimal learning and development in a group care setting that are consistent with research and the growing understanding of Developmentally Appropriate Practices among Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs). A First Nations perspective of the human life cycle from conception to toddlerhood will be emphasized, including prenatal development, birth, feeding, nurturing, developmental milestones, and age and stage.
