Using Supply Chain Management (SCM) concepts as a base, this course is designed to introduce students to the business value provided by analytics, big data systems, and processes. Students will learn the key concepts and terminology related to big data analytics including Descriptive, Predictive, and the Data Analytics Lifecycle focusing on SCM issues. These include Forecasting Models, Inventory Planning and Control, Layout Decision Models, Analyzing Process Capacity, and MRP. Students will explore the many ways data can be imported into MS-Excel, structured, analyzed, summarized, and presented with a purpose. Pivot tables and PowerPivot will be introduced as two of Excels most powerful tools for data analysis. Throughout the course, students will focus on data-driven decision making.
