This course expands on the student's knowledge of industrial robots by studying a wide range of possible robot applications and tooling required for these applications. Topics covered include TCP and job frame setup, I/O configuration between the robot and PLC, main line and subroutine program creation and execution, external add-ons that can be linked to a robots operating system, path control as well as the effect of the motion of a robot on its overall performance and cycle time. Proper techniques used to improve on path execution, to allow for the best overall performance of a robot will be considered as well. Students will learn the basic fundamentals of welding and sealing applications, as well as proper techniques used in teaching a robot to perform such tasks.
