In this course, concepts of health promotion and community health are studied. Health promotion strategies used to promote optimal oral health are reviewed. Current oral health trends, and the use of indices and oral health surveys to gather epidemiological data, are discussed. Principles of community organization, collaboration, and the population health approach are investigated. The phases involved in planning community oral health programs are explained. Public oral care delivery and mandatory oral health programs in Ontario are described.
