Preclinical theory will include fundamentals of periodontal debridement, application of root morphology to instrumentation, advanced instrumentation, selective coronal polishing, infection control, and an introduction to collecting assessment data (medical history, vital signs, hard tissue charting). Implementing basic emergency procedures relevant to dental hygiene clinical practice will be discussed.
