This course introduces the basic principles and application of physical assessment using non-invasive techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease processes. The student will learn how to complete a cardiac history and physical exam incorporating heart and lung sounds. There will be an extensive review of cardiac diagnostic laboratory tests that include echocardiography, tilt-table testing, nuclear tests, CT and MRI as methodologies in approaching patients with cardiac pathophysiology. Cardiac emergencies and complications will also be examined. There is a mandatory lab component as part of this course.
