This course introduces the core components of the science associated with cardiac rehabilitation as well as the prevention of cardiac issues. Students will acquire an applied knowledge of related risk factors in cardiovascular disease and strategies linked to secondary prevention. Emphasis will be placed on the role of nutrition, exercise, and management of risk factors in the promotion of cardiovascular health and the development of individualized patient programs to reduce disability and cardiovascular risk.
