Organic Chemistry II | St. Clair College
Course Code
CHM427
Course Credit
5

This course is an extension of previous organic chemistry courses. Alkyl halides, alcohols, ethers, ketones, aldehydes, carboxylic acids and their derivatives will be studied as to their preparation, properties and reactions of. In addition, NMR spectroscopy will be introduced and utilized in the laboratory experiments. Experiments will reflect the lecture portion of the course as students will perform a number of the reactions studied. Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), Infrared Spectroscopy (IR) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) will be used regularly in the lab experiments.
